NCMR Diagnostics

Non-invasive diagnostic techniques for measurements in fluid physics have become an indispensable tool for microgravity fluids and combustion research and as well as in the biotechnology and materials research community. Recent advancements in laser technology and CCD and sensors technologies have provided non-intrusive measurements in flows with extremely high spatial and temporal resolutions. The rapid advancements of optics, sensors technology and laser spectroscopy also promotes the capabilities of related researches at NCMR in photon correlation spectroscopy (Dynamic Light Scattering and Surface Light Scattering Spectroscopy), laser induced incandescence, interferometry, laser vibrometry, and scanning tunneling optical resonance microscopy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology is also available to NCMR and provides an additional imaging capability for observing flows in situations where optical techniques are not capable
